Value & Idea

Dr. Qi Fang is the founder of TONTSEN. He holds both architecture majors from two very established universities, namely Tsinghua University and Tonji University. From both the best Northern and Southern architecture universities in China, more than 20 years of research and practice in the architectural design industry, Dr. Qi Fang has cultivated much academic and market understanding. He has published nearly 30 academic papers in major academic journals at home and abroad and is the author of "Research on Shanghai Human Settlements" 《上海人居模式研究》and other architectural journals.

Based on the mission of advancing Chinese architectural culture as the long-term development of enterprises, Dr. Qi Fang has amassed the essence of Chinese and Western culture, brought together good business practices and distilled the architectural ideological system into a "spatial value theory". The theory puts forward the three attributes of Openness, Adaptability and Compatibility of architectural space which emphasizes on the realization of the value of space in the goal of architectural design theory. It is the study of space from the angle of positioning, exploring and realizing the spatial value, so as to set a guide in the design direction.

His design works have won many design awards at home and abroad: 2018 Golden Award for Best Villa of the year, 2017 REARD Real Estate Star Design Award & Design Silver Award, 2013 World Architecture Festival Cultural Architecture International nomination, Shanghai Architecture "Magnolia" Award, 2007 China Architectural Planning and Design most influential designer, Ministry of Construction & Urbanisation Grand Award, 2008 Shanghai Villa Gold Medal designer, and more.
